Martha's Vineyard

On Easter Sunday, we decided to take a little trip to Martha’s Vineyard. We boarded the ferry at Wood’s Hole and enjoyed the 20min ride to the famous island.

Coming into Martha's Vineyard

Due to it being Easter Sunday (and out of season), it was very quiet, so it felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.

Of course, Martha’s Vineyard is famous for being the holiday destination of the Stars - specifically, John Kennedy and the rest of the Kennedy clan. It’s also just as famous for it’s quaint streets, gingerbread houses, lighthouses and the Black Dog.

Transportation on the island is easy to navigate. There is a bus system which stops in all the major areas. We visited three of the more well-known areas: Vineyard Haven, Edgartown and Oaks Bluff.

Martha's Vineyard was really stunning and relaxing. You could see why so many people decided to spend their summer holidays on this quaint little island. Would love to come back here one day, when it's in season.

Our trip to Salem is up next!

Cape Cod: Mashpee, Sandwich, Woods Hole and other curious places....

From New York we took a little road trip up to the New England area.

Our original plan was to go to Maine and then Boston and back to New York. However, it was nearing the end of our trip and we were tired. Maine just seemed so FAR away. Poor Liesl also caught the flu and she was feeling as sick as a dog. So we decided not to attempt the trip to Maine.

Instead, we opted for a nearer destination: Cape Cod.

So we rented our little car, and booked our accommodation and off we set.

We decided to include a little detour to Connecticut on our way. I wanted to specifically visit Hartford and visit the grave of Hollywood Legend, Katharine Hepburn.

We eventually arrived at Santuit Inn in Mashpee, Cape Cod. This is where we would call home for the next few days.

Cape Cod was such a beautiful place. Very quaint, and clean. We drove throughout the entire area – visited Sandwich, Falmouth, Woods Hole (where we caught the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard) and of course Hyannis Port – which is famous for it’s JFK connection.

Liesl  by this point had also gone from bad to worse, and had to make an emergency stop at the Doctor.

With a bag of antibiotics in hand, Liesl was well on her way to recovery.
As soon as she felt better, we took a little trip to Martha’s Vineyard. I’ll cover this in my next post.
